★ About CommonGround

A store that feels like a community living room

We started in 2019 as a tiny farmers-market stall with 14 bulk jars and a borrowed scale. Today CommonGround.shop is a hybrid: online concept store + neighborhood refill hubs where you can taste, smell, test and learn. No greenwashing. Every product passes our 7-point filter: ingredients, sourcing, labor, packaging, durability, end-of-life and true need.

Radically transparent. Full ingredient lists, origin maps and maker margins on every page.
Circular by design. Refills, repairs and take-back for 82% of assortment.
Community owned vibes. 4% of revenue funds neighborhood compost, cleanups and maker grants.

Questions? Answers.

Is everything really plastic-free? +
96% of outbound packaging is plastic-free (paper tape, corn-starch mailers, returnable pouches). For liquids we still use BPA-free pumps with take-back — return them and we sanitize & reuse.
How does refill by mail work? +
Choose “Returnable pouch” at checkout. We ship in lightweight pouches. Transfer to your jars, rinse pouches, drop at hub or mail back with prepaid label. You get $1 credit per pouch.
Where do you ship & how fast? +
US-wide in 2–5 days, carbon-neutral. Free over $50. Local same-day bike delivery in Portland, Austin, Brooklyn.
Can I return if I don’t love it? +
60 days, no questions. Opened care products? We’ll refund and donate or compost — no need to ship back goo.
How do makers join? +
Apply with ingredients, sourcing and packaging info. Our council reviews monthly. If you pass 7-point vetting, we start with a small 50-unit test drop.
